Facilities Manager
Reports To: Administrative Pastor
Classification: Full-Time, non-ministerial
Position Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness of the First Baptist Church Bellville campus. This position encompasses hands-on duties, including custodial work, lawn care, and minor building repairs, as well as administrative responsibilities such as budget oversight, managing supply inventories, and coordinating contractors for specialized repairs. The Facilities Manager ensures the church’s facilities are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming to all who enter.
Key Responsibilities
- General Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform minor repairs on church buildings, equipment, and fixtures.
- Touch up imperfections in walls, trim, or surfaces within the worship facility.
- Replace ceiling tiles and change HVAC air filters on a scheduled basis.
- Maintain proper functioning of doors, locks, lighting, and plumbing systems where applicable.
- Custodial & Cleaning Duties
- Ensure all church facilities are clean, orderly, and ready for use throughout the week and for Sunday services.
- Order and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Manage seasonal deep cleaning of carpets, windows, and restrooms as needed.
- Grounds Maintenance
- Mow, edge, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
- Maintain and service lawn equipment regularly to ensure functionality and safety.
- Facility Access & Security
- Lock and secure all facilities after worship services are completed.
- Budget & Supplies Oversight
- Manage the facilities and maintenance budget under the guidance of the Administrative Pastor.
- Submit budget reports and recommendations for repairs and improvements as needed.
- Approve and initiate repairs up to $2,000 with Administrative Pastor's approval under the property and space committee’s budget.
- For repairs exceeding $2,000, seek formal approval from the Property and Space Committee.
- Contractor Coordination
- Serve as the point of contact for all outside contractors involved in building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Supervise contracted work to ensure it meets church standards and contractual obligations.
- Schedule and oversee inspections and service visits.
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Administrative Pastor.
- Communicates and coordinates with the Property and Space Committee on major repair and maintenance needs.
- Follows established budgetary approval procedures for all expenditures.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in facility or property maintenance preferred.
- General knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and custodial work.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical labor as required.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a heart for service in a church environment.
- Must be trustworthy, reliable, and committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for the congregation and staff.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, with flexible hours and availability required for emergencies and to ensure facilities are prepared for worship services and events.
